The nation’s oral health crisis is being felt right here in our community. Across the country, people struggle to find affordable dental care because of provider shortages, limited insurance coverage, and financial barriers. At All Care, that means a waiting list of more than 1,600 patients, waits approaching one year, and some patients traveling up to 170 miles for care.
Too Many People Are Waiting for Care
Every day, patients come to All Care looking for dental care they can’t find elsewhere.
No one should have to wait months for dental care while living with pain, infection, or untreated oral health problems. Yet that’s the reality for many families in Southwest Iowa. Many rely on Medicaid. Others are uninsured. Some travel long distances because there are few providers available to meet their needs.
Building for the Future
The Oral Health Access Initiative will create a new 10,000-square-foot dental facility on All Care’s main campus and is forecasted to open in the fall of 2027. The new building will allow us to expand services, add providers, and care for more patients.
