A New Smile at All Care: Welcoming Dr. Elisa Wiest Cortez

No two patients walk into a dental office with the same story, and Dr. Elisa Wiest Cortez has built a career that reflects that. After earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry, she began a career that has now spanned nearly 20 years. During that time, she has cared for people at very different points in their lives, from children learning what to expect at the dentist to adults needing emergency care to patients living in a health care facility. Those experiences have given Dr. Wiest Cortez years of practice meeting patients wherever they are when they sit down in her chair. Now, she’ll continue doing that at All Care.

For the past 10 years, much of that work has taken place in community health at OneWorld Community Health Centers, where Dr. Wiest Cortez provided dental care to patients of all ages. Her work in community health has also extended beyond the patients in her chair. Her experience shows that oral health education doesn’t have to start and stop with a dental appointment. Throughout her career, she has found opportunities to bring that education into places where people already live, work, and connect. By sharing what she knows with families, caregivers, and community members, she has helped make oral health part of the conversation outside the dental office.

Dr. Wiest Cortez has spent much of her career doing what happens every day at All Care: caring for people who come through the door with their own needs, questions, and stories. Now, she gets to do that here. We’re glad she’s joined our team, and we can’t wait for our patients to get to know her.
